Through my function as a public librarian I not too long ago ordered this book, and subsequently had the chance to be the first at my library to read it! I am especially impressed with the sheer scope of the perform. Getting extended been a fan of the Taunton Press I expected this perform to be quite really good top quality, and I was not disappointed. I agree with most of the favorable comments created by other reviewers, but I have to disagree with the claim produced by one other that this book is disjointed. I identified it to be particularly readable and informative.
To me the beauty of this book is that there is one thing in it for every person. Beginners will of course collect the most new understanding right here, but even seasoned woodworkers (and woodworking book junkies) will obtain it intriguing and above all helpful. Besides the grand scope of the book, I was impressed most with the fresh and creative methods that normal woodworking expertise is presented. I discovered that the way the chapters were laid out, the order of presentation, felt especially natuaral. Each subject flows nicely into the next. I specifically liked the sections illustrating the most typical types of a distinct component of woodworking. Such as, the most standard techniques for mounting and fitting drawers and doors, the most prevalent edge details for shelving, the most prevalent dimensions for many different categories of furnishings, and so on.
If I had to sum up why this book is a great obtain I would have to say it is simply because this book serves as each an encyclopedia of woodworking details (usefull to all woodworkers amongst us) and a comprehensive collection of tips and hints and advice (which novices will discover specifically beneficial). I highly suggest this acquire.

Despite the fact that not for beginning woodworkers, this is an outstanding book--sort of like a combination Rodale Tage Frid. It goes into detail on the construction of furnishings and cabinetry--exactly where Rodale delivers an overview of cabinet/furnishings varieties, and Tage Frid supplies facts of how to build particular joints, Andy Rae puts the two together. He supplies a number of procedures that I hadn't believed of before, such as building a raised panel out of less expensive MDF framed by solid wood.
The other books in the series (Joinery and Shaping Wood) are awesome as well. But I locate myself seeking to this book even more commonly.
